Radio ad VO makes a connection

I’ve just recently started working with audio production company Spark Audio and have recorded a couple of voiceover ISDN sessions with them.

ConnectFM-logoMy first job with Spark was for a radio ad for  Connect FM. After the recording I realised the voice over also made some connections for me.  For a start Spark Audio are based in Canvey Island in Essex – the county in which I was born and brought up.

I’ve been based in the Midlands a long time now and don’t go back to Essex very often so on the phone and also during the ISDN sessions talking to John at Spark was great. He and the other John who works there sound just like loads of people I grew up and went to school with – so I felt right at home straightaway.

I also wasn’t familiar with Connect FM.  However checking out their website I made another connection as I found a familiar face – Mark Jeeves their Breakfast Show presenter.  Previously I’ve worked with Mark when we were both presenters at Beacon Radio and Northants 96. Mark and I were also part of the original presentation line-up on Planet Rock when it started.

Mark’s done lots of double header radio shows but his current set up looks like it might be the toughest so far – seems his co-presenter is his wife!  Some people talk about bringing work home but it looks like Mark takes home to work!
