For the second year running I was invited by film maker Nynke la Porte at Izzyworks in Amsterdam to provide voice overs for this year’s Free Press Awards – held on the 2nd of November 2017 at the Peace Palace in The Hague in the Netherlands.  It’s an event to celebrate and recognise investigative journalism around the world. It also aims to draw attention to the risks involved for journalists trying to “get the story” in war-torn parts of the world or in countries with authoritarian regimes. Many journalists are threatened, imprisoned, beaten up and sometimes killed just for doing their job.

I provided announcements to introduce key speakers and also to narrate short videos revealing the nominees for award categories like – Most Resilient Journalist, Best Newcomer and Best Report. It was an interesting job that allowed me to use a more “newsy” voice over style of delivery than on the more usual corporate narrations I normally provide.

This year’s videos are not currently on-line but this is the one I recorded last year to introduce the event.
