I’ve just provided the voiceover narration for a short video film showing the launch of the HBO TV channel in Amsterdam, Holland.
In the video there are loads of Dutch celebrities on the “blue carpet”. However I can’t work out if the carpet was blue to support the HBO branding or whether the traditional red carpet has now become a blue one. Or perhaps the blue carpet is a traditional thing in the Netherlands instead of the red carpet we have in the UK and the US?
A quick Google shows a recent movie premiere in London having a blue carpet – but the was the for the “Iron Lady” so I guess there the colour was chosen to reflect Maggie’s politics. I also found a Hollywood website dedicated to celeb goss – called red carpet access which listed several Hollywood events where the celebrities paraded on the “blue carpet”.
So maybe blue is the new red – when it comes to carpets.
