Voiceover narration for corporate project.

dvoicebox wave formI’ve been learning about the importance of effective crisis management for big companies while recording a voiceover for Unilever.  Companies have had strategies on how to deal with crises for sometime now – but in a world interconnected by social media platforms companies now need to move fast to contain an issue before it potentially damages their brand.  The need for fast action when dealing with social media has resulted in a re-think on both how to deal with problems and also who should have the authority to put the company’s point of view.

All this about Social Media has reminded me that I have yet to start using my twitter and Facebook pages  effectively – I’ve discovered that there’s a name for this situation – it seems its called “Paralysis of Analysis”. I found this out in a blog article by a voice artist I had the pleasure to work on a voiceover with last year – Maxine Dunn.

Maxine reckons that many of us are aware that we should be doing something to promote our work – but somehow we just get overwhelmed with all the things we could do and the choices we could make – and so actually end up doing nothing. Like spending ages on deciding the colour of your website.  That was me last year – I just couldn’t decide which colour to go with when this website was new. Maxine says you should focus and decide to do something – you can always alter course later.

So I did – I started my website with a browny beige colour – but it just didn’t work,  after a few weeks I changed it to black – which I personally like – and that works! Since the change I’ve been working with lots of new clients.

Now all I need is the same approach to my Twitter account!
