Voiceover for dentists

dvoicebox wave formI’ve recently finished recording a voice over for a project that provides information on the various laws and legislation that apply to dental clinicians.  While I was recording the voiceover I found out that in addition to all the employment law and health and safety rules that probably apply to any small business there were a couple of other items that surprised me.

For example there’s a whole host of environmental legislation that applies to things like polluting the water supply. My voice-over explains that to avoid infection flowing back into the mains water supply lots of dentists use bottled water supplies.

There’s also the whole question of the stuff they use for fillings – dental amalgam.  It’s got mercury in it which is highly toxic so you have to handle it with extreme care.  One thing that wasn’t explained in the voiceover script was how it is they can make fillings out of something so poisonous.  How is that you can’t touch mercury with your bare hands – but you can put a filling in your mouth that’s made out of the stuff?  Perhaps I’ll get to provide the voiceover narration for a project on making fillings and then I’ll find out!

In the meantime I’ll be paying much closer attention next time I go to the dentist for a check up.
