I’ve been in my booth recording a voiceover narration for a corporate video for Del Monte. The video shows the range of services and fresh food that Del Monte produce and distribute from their centre in Dubai, UAE.

It seems that for many people in this country, when they hear the brand name Del Monte they just want to break into “the man from Del Monte – he say yes”. It must be one of those really successful lines in a TV ad where you not only remember the strapline, but also the brandname – even though the ad was on the telly years ago.

So did I get to squeeze an orange and say “yes” like linen suited, panama hat wearing “man from Del Monte” in the old ad?  Not quite – for a start it was just a voice over – I wasn’t on camera – and it seems the slogan for today is a reworking of that classic line – nowadays the line is “Say yes to the best”.
