In between voiceover jobs I was checking out a few things on the internet (as you do) and came across a great music video.

When I used to present on the radio station Planet Rock I got to play Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water loads of times. It’s a rock song – and a guitar riff that I grew up listening to. And of course as a musician who goes into music shops from time to time you can almost guarantee – even today – that someone who’s trying out guitars will play the riff.

Over the years I’ve heard loads of covers of the song – but I’ve never heard a version like this one. One of my favorite versions of the song is on the live Deep Purple album Made in Japan. Well this version is also “made in Japan”.  Very seriously….with a lot of very earnest, furrowed-brow concentration. Enjoy!
