It’s always nice to get some kind of recognition for your voice over work and just recently I discovered that I am now apparently an “award winning voice over artist”. A couple of years ago I blogged about having provided some character voice overs for film-maker Ian Woodward for a film he was making about the life of the composer Tchaicovsky. This was the second time I’d provided character voices for Ian – the first time was for a film he made about the composer Smetana.
I’d rather forgotten about the first film, which is called “From Bohemia’s Woods and Fields, until I suddenly got an email from Ian telling me I’d won an award for my work in the “Best Supporting Voice Over” category in a small film festival in the US. OK – not a BAFTA or an Oscar…..but a start…of sorts.
The most ironic aspect of it to me is that I don’t really do character voices, its not really part of my skillset. I certainly don’t list character voices as part of my services on this website. Despite that this is not the first time that I’ve been asked to do characters – even though I’ve said to clients I don’t do them. This is, however, the first time I’ve won an award for them!
You can see the film here on Ian’s website – one of my voices starts at around 24:30.
This is my certifcate.
