Another day another voiceover booth

London studio VO session

dvoicebox wave formEvery so often I get the opportunity to leave my Midlands based voiceover booth and head out to record in voiceover facilities elsewhere.

Today I’ve been recording with the very nice people at Run VT Post Production in Newman Street, London.

Recently it has seemed that I’ve been asked to record quite a few pharmaceutical voiceovers and today’s session was yet another of those. With a pharmaceutical voiceover read it almost always seems that the script is bound to contain many medical and scientific polysyllabic terms that are very hard to correctly pronounce.

When I’m recording pharmaceutical voice-overs in my own studio I often have to resort to calling my clients several times to clarify the correct pronunciation.  In fact sometimes I’ll call the clients and then actually record the phone conversation as they read through the tricky parts of the script and give me the correct pronunciation.  At least then I’ve got an audio reference I can listen to in the booth as I record my voice-over.

The voice over session today was easier than that as there was a team of people on hand in the control room to give me guidance on the talkback on  how to pronounce terms like “tyrosine kinase” or the name of each the range of different brand names the client is wondering about using for their product.

It made a nice change to be someone else’s booth in London instead of mine in Warwickshire and now that the Chiltern Railways Mainline trains go even faster I can get to London and back much quicker than in the past – which makes recording in the capital much easier.

The voiceover was being produced by VCCP with recording at Run VT
