Blog

When part of your work is recording corporate and explainer video voiceovers you can discover quite a range of things  you previously had no idea existed.

For example non slip tennis courts; a special plastic used in photovoltaic cells; an iphone app that controls wood burning stoves; how to decommission wind turbines; a machine that measures human body resonant frequencies; how to turn a conservatory into an extra room; a water distribution and sewerage company in the desert in the UAE and finding out how to drive fancy VW cars over rocky terrain – you name it I’ve done the voice over!.

I hope these blog posts give a flavour of the more interesting voiceover stuff that sometimes comes my way – plus some of the other things I like that I’ve come across in those moments when I’m waiting for the next script to arrive!

Tall Ships and Twitter

Every five years Amsterdam in the Netherlands plays host to SAIL – a celebration of all things ship and sail related. More than 600 ships from all over the world congregate in the harbour – displaying a wide range of craft including tall ships and historical replicas. SAIL 2015 took place recently and this time the nautical festival saw a unique collaboration between the event organisers and social media giant read more

It’s been a busy few weeks in my voice over studio with me recording a range of VO projects including elearning, IVR messages and narrations for corporate video projects. One of the voice over narrations I recorded was for a corporate video promoting the work of the largest manufacturer of steel and steel fabrications in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and beyond. The video presentation explained the work of the read more

I’ve just recorded a voice over narration for an information video for owners of VW cars wishing to learn how to access and use the “volkswagen carnet” system. This is the second voice over I have recorded for VW in recent months – some weeks ago I was approached by Kingdom Creative to narrate an information video for owners of the VW XL1 car. I was not familiar with the read more

I was recently asked to record a voice over for a presentation by Unilever.  Last year the company decided to divide some of it’s activities into new divisions and companies.  The script I recorded the voice over for was all about explaining the repositioning of the company’s many spreads and margarine brands in the market under the new umbrella of the Baking Cooking and Spreads Company. My voice over was read more

I’ve recently finished recording a series of voice over narrations on training videos for sales staff working for Heineken UK. It seems it’s part of a company strategy that sees Heineken representatives acting a trusted advisors to pub landlords on the best drinks categories and brands to stock in order to make their bars more successful. Each video looked at a different category of bar or pub and the kinds read more

New Voiceover demos on website

New Voiceover demos on website

 April 14, 2015
I’ve finally resolved the problem on this website with voice over demo audio files not being playable on mobile phones, tablets and iphones. It seems it was just a case of replacing the Flash player with one based on the more widely used HTML5. Now it’s done I’ve taken the opportunity to update most of the voice over demos and also remove some of the older demos. A further freshening read more

I recently recorded a video narration for a corporate video for the largest paper products manufacturer in the Middle East: Mepco. The video has just been posted on-line. I was working once again with Rupert Chesman at Film-Me productions in the United Arab Emirates. I’m used to corporate clients often having pretty tight deadlines but this project was on a really fast turnaround. At the point I was sent the read more

Over the last few weeks I’ve been busy in my voiceover studio recording a varied range of voiceover projects. I’ve recently recorded  a new video narration for Dotmailer. This is a continuation of a series of videos I’ve done for this email auto-responder company. The new video was to promote the range of tools available to help you optimise your marketing and targeted emails to potential customers. I’ve also been read more

I’ve had an another busy few weeks in my studio recording quite a range of voice-over projects. There’s certainly been quite a medical theme to quite a lot of the recent voice over work. For example I’ve just finished recording and editing the voice over for a professional development programme for dentists. The topics covered included assessing gingival health and also applying Evidence Based Decision Making. With the latter the read more

Voiceovers: a learning process

Voiceovers: a learning process

The last few weeks have been a busy time for voiceover recording in the dVoiceBox studio.  In addition to the usual ISDN sessions for radio ads and my regular recording of messages for the IVR phone system for Legal and General there have also been two large projects for learning and training programmes. I think you can discover some very interesting facts and information through voice-over work and it feels read more
