Chris Radley – Voice Over Blog

When part of your work is recording corporate and explainer video voiceovers you can discover quite a range of things  you previously had no idea existed.

For example non slip tennis courts; a special plastic used in photovoltaic cells; an iphone app that controls wood burning stoves; how to decommission wind turbines; a machine that measures human body resonant frequencies; how to turn a conservatory into an extra room; a water distribution and sewerage company in the desert in the UAE and finding out how to drive fancy VW cars over rocky terrain – you name it I’ve done the voice over!.

I hope these blog posts give a flavour of the more interesting voiceover stuff that sometimes comes my way – plus some of the other things I like that I’ve come across in those moments when I’m waiting for the next script to arrive!

Voiceover news Well due to the amount of time spent recording voiceovers in my booth I’ve missed quite a lot of the recent heatwave weather. It’s been a pretty busy time in my voiceover studio. I’ve just delivered the audio files for the voiceover for another e-learning module in the series I’m doing for Zenosis. It’s part of a programme explaining how to market pharmaceutical brands in different markets round read more

VO for exam report I’ve been recording some more voiceovers for the OCR exam board.  This time I’ve been reading the reports of Chief Examiners in Chemistry GSCE and A level courses. The reports are supposed to give teachers and their students guidance on where people have gone wrong in the exams in previous years so that they can avoid the pitfalls when its their turn to do the exam. read more

Partridge and cans My attention has been drawn to the trailer for the new Alan Partridge movie “Papa Alpha”. The film opens in August in Norwich – where else? With a showing in London later. I’ve loved the Alan Partridge character from the early days when he appeared on Radio 4’s On The Hour as a sports journalist with a worrying obsession for athletes who’d suffered “a rather nasty groin read more

VO news I’ve been recording a wide variety of voiceovers recently – some video narrations, some elearning programmes, even a character voice in a film. I’ve just finished recording a voiceover narration for a short information video explaining how TaxGenix works. It’s a new service being provided by Euroclear. I’ve also been recently asked to help with some audio restoration and audio remastering for a film documentary using a number read more

Voiceover connections It seems that the topic of Europe and this country’s links with it, especially the Eurozone, have been in the news a lot recently.  So it got me thinking about voiceover work and Europe…. and beyond. Before I was a voiceover artist I used to work as a radio presenter. When I first started in radio, in the days when CDs were new technology and recording was done read more

VO for exam report I’ve just been in my voice booth recording the voiceover narration for a series of on-line exam reports for the OCR exam board. These voice-overs are part of a series of presentations where senior examiners report back to teachers on recent exam papers.  The reports highlight how the mark scheme for each paper works, what candidates needed to do to gain the highest marks and which read more

Video narration I’ve recently been in my dvoicebox studio recording a voice-over narration for a video explaining the history and current services of one of the oldest established wine and spirits businesses in Gibralter. My voiceover narration for the video details the background and the current business activities of Saccone and Speed (Gibralter). The video is being produced by Gibmedia read more

Vooice Over for animation project I’ve just recorded a voiceover narration for an on-line project that explains the action of the Earth-Rite RTR.  Basically its a piece of kit that ensures an earth connection and so reduces the risks caused by the build up of static electricity on fuel tankers. As you might imagine the chance of a spark from an electrical discharge can be a problem when you are read more

New narration I’ve just recorded a voiceover narration for a video produced by  a client that I last worked for a couple of years ago. Now Philippe Ingels at Wakster has asked me to narrate their video entitled “On-line spaghetti demystified”.  The video explains what a company needs to do to get their website really working for them.   It’s just been posted on-line so you can check it out here. read more
